Almost Literally The Worst News Possible For Romney

The Labor Department has released the September job numbers this morning, bringing the nation’s Unemployment Rate to 7.8%, the first time the rate has dipped below since President Obama took office in January, 2009. This is indeed excellent news for the Obama Campaign, coming so soon after the President’s disappointing first debate performance. The work force not only added 114,000 new jobs, but the Labor Department also revised the figures for July and August upward by 86,000 jobs.
While a 114,000 net gain and a .3% drop in the rate may not seem enormous, it is expected to seriously blunt a key campaign screed by Team Romney…that Obama promised that unemployment would fall dramatically through his policies (the stimulus, etc.), yet has been consistently above the dire 8% figure for the entire Obama term of office.
Debate? What debate? Did Romney win a debate? Whoosh! Out the window that went along with the #1 Republican talking point. The Obama campaign slogan has to morph into something like “It took us four years to clean up the worst of the mess they left us. The hard work is done. Now to make it better than it was!”

I think Romney’s too busy trying to dig himself out from under a big pile of Big Bird poop to notice the jobs statistics. Is he NUTS! He couldn’t have picked some stupid obscure little program that fewer than three people know about?
” Out the window that went along with the #1 Republican talking point.”
No. Not at all. The new #1 Republican talking point is now that Obama ordered the numbers to be cooked.
You can’t fight stupid, man.
I still say Romney’s apparent win in the debates is the REAL ‘sugar high’ of poll numbers, because while Romney’s aggressive approach pleased his base and the corporate media who have a vested interest in keeping things as close as possible. I also feel the image of Big Bird being killed by Republicans is going to lodge in the subconscious of most Americans, and may well be a gift to Democrats for years or even decades. I’m cautiously optimistic that Obama knows exactly what he’s doing and that Republicans may well regret having such an anti-PBS fetish.
