The general consensus is that the Democratic Party finally sat, looked the GOP square in the eye and spit in it. Enough running away from liberal ideals and being “nice” so as not to frighten away “independents,” they have a choice, progressive values that better the country or the out of the closet rabid bigotry, misogyny and ignorance of the GOP.
In keeping with that theme, tonight has Nancy Pelosi, the right’s most hated woman because she’s so incredibly good at her job (she’s light-years better than Boehner and she cries less, too). They also have Sandra Fluke speaking. She’s the right’s second most hated woman because she dragged their anti-contraception agenda into the light of day for the whole country to see (they actually did that to themselves but they blame Fluke because they’re about “personal responsibility” and all…). They’ll be playing a video on women’s health which will highlight just how backwards the GOP has become.
Elizabeth Warren will deliver what will, no doubt, be a highly memorable (and quotable) speech and to top it all off, Bill Clinton. Veterans and unions are getting their time to shine as well. Oh yeah, and the President of Planned Parenthood will be speaking.
Does this sound like a party that’s shying away from its values? Nope!
Good.
Here’s a breakdown of the whos, whats and whens.
