Few people know that, before he joined Starfleet, Spock tried his hand in the private sector. Other failed ventures: Spock’s Funtime Puppet Show, The Kolinahr Komedy Hour, Vulcan gigolo (only available once every seven years) and suicide prevention hotline (“Killing yourself is illogical.” had a success rate of .000913%).
Spock also worked in the dilithium mines on Rigel 5 in the early years. The miners’ greeting, “Live long and prospect,” seems to have had its impact on him.
