Republicans Proving Just How Much They LOVE Children (By Throwing Them Under A Bus)
on August 30, 2012 at 4:48 pmFlorida Republicans has cut funding for a highly successful program because the funds come from *gasp* OBAMACARE! Via Huffington Post:
Results of visitation programs, according to Florida State University’s Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Policy, are certain. Among findings:
- Home visiting can reduce the number of premature or low birth weight babies, each of whom costs at least between $28,000 and $40,000 in medical and other care.
- A year of care for an abused or neglected child costs the state $68,797 – circumstances prevented in 98 percent of the high risk families served by Healthy Families Florida and done so at a cost of only $1,625 per child.
- Each high school dropout is a $260,000 burden in lost earnings, taxes, and productivity, but according to CPEIP home visits assist teen parents in finishing school and postponing additional pregnancies, helping stop the cycle of poverty and government dependence. 73 percent of unemployed HFF participants found work before leaving the program.
“The research is irrefutable. It’s overwhelming,” the Center’s director, Dr. Mimi Graham, told HuffPost. “It saves an enormous amount of taxpayer money by helping families to get out of poverty and helping kids be successful in school.”
If you asked anyone of these savages, they will swear on a stack of Republican Bibles that they venerate the life of unborn children and will do anything to keep them safe from evil liberals. After they’re born? Meh. Who cares?
This is almost literally the definition of cutting off your own nose to spite your face.

The concept of spending money to SAVE EVEN MORE MONEY is completely lost on these people. Statistics like this need to be brought up every time states or federal programs are on the chopping block.
Sadly, it seems as though no one is interested in factual evidence (based on Ryan’s RNC speech). We’ve become a nation of sensationalism over truth, thanks to the demonization of words like “ObamaCare” and “Liberal”.
The late George Carlin, comedic sage that he was, had it right on target with his monologue on just this subject. He said that if you are pre-born you are ok, once you are born, you are f@#$$ed. And then just try to survive until you are of military age when they are again interested in you. You see this is not a direct quote but it is the meat of what he said. The Conservatives want live babies so they can make dead soldiers.
