What? Did Romney think we weren’t going to ask? Don’t be silly! Once the “SQUIRREL!” moment passes, we’ll get back to wondering what he’s hiding.
I’m sure he thought Ryan might be a good distraction but he has to know that there are really only two ways this can go. Ryan releases his taxes and then everyone asks why Romney’s still hiding his or Ryan releases one or two years and everyone starts asking what the both of them are hiding. Ryan’s returns are most likely unremarkable but it will be screamingly obvious he’s withholding his so Mitt can continue to do so.
This is going to dog the Romney campaign all the way to Election Day. Pun intended.
