And your point is??? Much of the corporate earnings went to shareholders and to help fund retirement programs so quit whining about it and buy some freaking stock already. What do you want to do? More corporate tax? That was a Steven Greenhouse article in the New York Times. Also read LAURA D’ANDREA TYSON’s article on The Logic of Cutting Corporate Taxes.
Buy stock? are you kidding, Bruce W?! when people lost 40% of their wealth in the last few years, via pensions funds=stock investments(IRAs,401Ks,SRAs) and home value? Much of corporate profits went to executive pay. I think the point is that there is plenty of profit, how about increasing wages for the employees who help make those profits.
