We’re coming to take your Bibles away! Oh noes!!

Addictinginfo reports:

For the first time since the Gallup organization began asking the question, a majority of Americans—54 percent—would vote for an atheist. As a matter of fact, a majority would vote for any of the named categories for President—Black (96%), woman (95%), Catholic (94%), Hispanic (92%), Jewish (91%), Mormon (80%), gay/lesbian (68%), Muslim (58%), atheist (54%). But this is the first time that atheists have achieved this rank, in contrast to all the other groups.

I can only imagine the right wing is quivering in fear about this. As we all know, atheists (like me) are the lowest of the low. We’re a blight on humanity, eat babies, murder the elderly blablabla. The real problem, though, is that atheists are notoriously difficult to sway using right wing social wedge issues and have an annoying tendency to point out, in great detail, that the religious right is neither “religious” nor “right.” This is an often overlooked statistic that shows the right wing’s religious hysteria is rapidly losing its grip on the country.

Boo.

Hoo.
